ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Provides direct therapy through a variety of modalities to assigned population groups of clients including individual, group, and family counseling. - Maintains accurate, confidential documentation of counseling services administered to clients through staff notes, organizational service forms, various reports, etc. - Attends and participates in organizational staff meetings, case reviews, treatment planning sessions, etc., and provides information related to therapy and modality issues and how current or proposed plans affect client recovery and progress. - Provides telephone consultation regarding case treatments with client family members, school personnel, other health care professionals, DSS, CPS, etc., to provide better understanding of clients' circumstances and progress. - Develops treatment plans and therapies based upon assigned population group's and individual client's needs. - Assists clients with out-of-agency contacts including those with physicians, hospitals, courts of law, schools, and family members. EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or human services as determined by the Medicaid program as a mental health field. Basic interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Basic knowledge of mental and physical characteristics of applicable population group (e.g., growth and development and range of treatment needed), mental health issues, treatments, therapies, etc., and their effectiveness on individuals and/or select population groups. Knowledge of SCS policies and procedures. Over six and up to twelve months of individual, group, and/or family counseling experience, or related volunteer or practicum experience, with relevant Bachelor's degree.
