Job Title: Per Diem Mental Health Technician - Hillside House Company: Westwood Lodge Hospital & Lowell Treatment Center Location: Westwood, MA Description: Mental Health Technician for Hillside House Program - Overnight shift needed (Midnight to 8am) on a Per Diem basis. JOB PURPOSE: The Hillside House Mental Health Associate is a member of the Partial Hospital staff who functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing responsible supervision and structure to dorm residents. RESPONSIBILITIES (include, not limited to) THERAPEUTIC AND SAFE MILIEU: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner. Enforce dorm rules and policies, including ensuring that residents sign in and out as required and reminding residents about activities such as meals and AA meetings. Mediate disputes between residents. Ensure security of staff areas. Keep important patient items such as medications secure, and provide medications to residents so that they can self-administer. Documentation as required by the program. STAFF EDUCATION: The Mental Health Associate participates in educational and other activities that help maintain clinical competency in areas of responsibility to ensure quality of patient care. Attends and participates in all staff meetings. Attends and participates in all mandatory in-services. Attends and participates in voluntary in-services. Attends at least three Group Training sessions each year to develop group leadership competency. Assists with the unit orientation of new staff members through mentoring. Maintains an on-unit record of educational activities.   Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor degree in psychology or related field or human behavior or equivalent is preferred. Experience: Prefer at least 1 year experience in behavioral health field. Technical Skills: Ability to communicate clearly through spoken words and in writing. Must possess knowledge and skills necessary to interact compassionately and appropriately with families of the mentally ill.  The mental health associate must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and structure to residents of Hillside House. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the challenges faced by dually diagnosed adults, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and to provide the care needed or call an administrator as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures. The individual must be comfortable working alone in a somewhat isolated setting, and have good judgment regarding when to call for consultation or help. * All Positions at Westwood Lodge Hospital are based on a two week schedule and have the following Mandatory Conditions of Employment: Overtime, Shift Work, Rotating Work Schedule, Work Location Change (other than the location regularly scheduled), and FT/PT employees must work a minimum of every other weekend.
