DUTIES:   This position is a full-time board certified or board eligible psychiatrist in the Compensation and Pension Program.   This individual is to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) evaluations for veterans requesting service-connection for disabilities related to PTSD and/or other mental disorders based on requirements listed in the 2507 received from the Veterans Affairs Regional Offices (VARO).  Psychiatrist performs the required examination or provides the requested opinion necessary to make a decision on a veterans' claim for service-connected disability.  Incumbent is required to perform a clinical interview and determine diagnoses based on DSM-IV criteria.  Psychiatrist may also be requested to conduct independent competency evaluations and neuron-psychological testing. The psychiatrist will perform the examination using established guidelines published by the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) and Compensation and Pension Evaluation Project (CPEP).  These examinations are for use by the regional office for rating purposes only and there is no treatment involved. All examination findings are to be dictated, reviewed, completed and released in a timely manner in accordance with medical center policy.  Some examinations will require review of claims folder or the VA computerized patient record system (CPRS).  Psychiatrist will use CPRS to notify other VA examiners or enter orders.

Reviews completed psychological autopsy reports. Recommends changes in the overall program.Manages the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). We are dedicated to the perspective of the Medical Treatment Facility command and staff, the DOD beneficiary, and our providers. We are searching for a full time psychiatrist to support the Psychological Health initiative under the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PH and TBI) program located in the Psychiatric Clinic at Naval Branch Health Clinic, Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, MS. The Psychiatric Clinic operates from 6AM to 6PM Monday through Saturday. The clinic is closed on Sundays and the day of observance of Federal holidays. The program seeks to address gaps in the care available for the prevalent injuries among combatants from the global war on terrorism. Through adoption of risk based staffing models and a uniform, best practice standard of care across DOD, the program seeks to ensure easy, rapid access to PH care for all beneficiaries and to ensure that transition across networks of care recognizes the unique care coordination and case management requirements for PH and TBI patients. The psychiatrist may have an occasional need to travel to other local facilities to accomplish assigned duties. All locations are within 20 miles of each other. Qualifications: Be a graduate from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association or possess certification by the Educational Council for Foreign medical Graduates. Possess a current, valid, unrestricted license in one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Possess board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry or the American Osteopathic Association, OR Possess residency training in Psychiatry and not less than 3 years of experience within the last 5 years as a full-time Psychiatrist. Notwithstanding the aforementioned experience requirements, the HCW must have pertinent clinical experience within the past 2 years sufficient to demonstrate current clinical competency for the setting and procedures required by this task order. Responsibilities: The Senior Medical Officer or a designated government representative will supervise the health care worker. Provide a full range of Psychiatrist services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer. Provide technical direction to, perform with, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals, seeing patients within the scope of their clinical privileges or responsibilities. Promote preventive and health maintenance care including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through education and counseling.
