Job Title: Physician Psychiatrist Company: Location: Topeka, KS Description: The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System is seeking board eligible or board certified psychiatrists to function as part of our psychiatric care team working with other physicians, physician extenders, nurses and/or other support staff. You will cover inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services, including general psychiatry, geropsychiatry, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addictions, consult/liaison, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Primary and secondary medical services are provided in the General and Medical portions of the medical center. This level of service, as well as tertiary care, is also provided to the psychiatric areas. The employee shall participate in activities of the VAMC that are designed to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (The Joint Commission) as they apply to the position. As a member of one of the world's largest integrated health care systems, the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System serves as the primary health care provider for veterans in eastern Kansas and northwestern Missouri. The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System (VAEKHCS) is comprised of the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center (DDEVAMC) in Leavenworth, Kansas; the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center (COVAMC) in Topeka, Kansas; and 10 Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in both Kansas and Missouri. VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System's primary service area consists of 39 counties in Kansas and Missouri. Veteran population in these counties totals over 104,000. VAEKHCS provides care to approximately 36,000 veterans.VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System operates a total of 233 hospital beds. A continuum of care is provided inclusive of an additional 138 Community Living Center beds, 178 domiciliary beds, and 25 PRRTP beds (Psyco-social Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program).
