Job Description

Wellness Retreat Recovery Center is a 6-bed drug and alcohol treatment center in the hills of San Jose focused on individualized care with an emphasis on practice and process. We understand that our clients’ treatment experience is a direct result of our employees’ satisfaction and the health of our organization. With this understanding in mind, we believe that the growth we see in our clients reflects the growth of our staff. We operate from the “wounded healer” model which means that we are only able to assist clients to the extent to which our staff have done their own internal work.

We are looking for professionals who are passionate about helping the chemically dependent population we serve. This is an opportunity for someone to develop their talents and expand within our organization as we continue to grow as a program. This is a full-time position.

Wellness Retreat Recovery Center’s Clinical Manager must oversee clinical operations in partnership with WRRC's Program Director and also provide at least one hour of individual therapy to each client (up to a caseload of 6) within every seven days of the client's treatment stay at WRRC and chart progress notes for each therapeutic interaction. This individual will conduct weekly private family therapy sessions with each client's family and chart accordingly.  Finally, this person is responsible for running our weekly Family Education/ Process Group each Saturday from 1 until approx. 4 pm (depends on group attendance).  We will consider rescheduling the Family Education/Process Group to meet candidate's preferred availability for the right candidate.

Job Specifics:

  • This role is a salaried, full-time position and may regularly require overtime;
  • Flexible schedule depending on the needs and availability of clients and their participating loved ones;
  • Must be available to work some evenings Monday through Friday;
  • Must be available to work on Saturday from 12 pm until about 6 pm;*
  • Must attend Wednesday staff meetings (2:00pm until about 4:00pm);*
  • Minimally requiring a Marriage and Family Therapist (or alternative) with state licensure as a LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW and be in good standing.

*We will consider rescheduling this group to meet candidate availability for the right candidate.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a substance abuse programs (relevant experience may be substitutable on a case-by-case basis);
  • Leadership and administrative experience and capabilities;
  • Must possess knowledge of chemical dependency, substance abuse and personality dynamics of the substance abuser;
  • Must have and actively maintain CPR and First Aid Certification and submit to a TB test upon hire;
  • Must possess a license from the State of California Mental Health Professions Licensing Board that allows for the independent practice of Clinical Services. Must maintain a professional license and stay current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid and unrestricted;
  • Successful candidate would be open to personal recovery and spiritual growth.

Preferences

We feel it important to list our preferences in our search for the optimal candidate. This candidate will be required to establish close working relationships with the rest of the WRRC team.

  • We prefer an individual with a personal recovery process underway. This can include recovery from a substance use disorder, codependence, workaholism, or a recovering AlAnon or Adult Child of an Alcoholic.  If the individual is not in a personal recovery process, we require that they actively engage in working regularly with a personal therapist;
  • We prefer a candidate who has explored their own codependence in personal, professional, and therapeutic relationships;
  • We prefer a candidate who is skilled at maintaining healthy boundaries with their clients and while holding a caring container for them at the same time.

Duties

This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties and activities that may be required to satisfy the demands of this position.

  • Weekly individual therapy for each client;
  • Weekly private family therapy sessions with each participating family and the client (occasionally clients require private family therapy with loved ones separately and require more than one private family therapy session per week- ex., client has a private session with their spouse and another with their mother);
  • Attend Wednesday staff meetings in person (2:00pm until about 4:30pm)
  • Provide crisis services and consultation as deemed appropriate;
  • Serve as on-call contact person for WRRC staff when they require after-hours clinical support;
  • Work with Wellness Retreat Recovery Center’s treatment team personnel in client evaluation and treatment to enhance provided services and treatment planning;
  • Complete necessary documentation;
  • Consult with clinical, medical, administrative team, etc., concerning clinical issues as necessary;
  • Provide individual and group counselling/therapy, as required;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations and referrals;
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities, which ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations;
  • Other duties as assigned by the COO;
