Job Summary

McKinley Consultants are assigned to a McKinley school and supervise the clinical work of therapists assigned to the school.  Consultants are responsible for monitoring the overall quality and integrity of Wediko services at their assigned school.  They are also responsible for assigning cases, maintaining clinician schedules, and timely documentation of the clinical services provided.   McKinley Consultants must be familiar with the multi-tiered behavior support structures (PBIS) and other initiatives at the school.  They participate in relevant agency-based and school-based trainings and can articulate a trauma-informed perspective on behavioral health treatment.  McKinley Consultants participate in leadership meetings at Wediko and facilitate staff training seminars/workshops as needed. McKinley consultants work under the supervision of the Program Director or Associate Director.

Essential Functions

  • Provide clinical consultation to a McKinley School.  The McKinley Consultant is expected to be available to the school at times established and agreed upon with McKinley Program leaders (APD’s, PD), typically during service team meetings.  The consultant is also expected to be available for additional meetings such as ICC or crisis meetings.  At times, meetings will be held off-site (e.g., in hospitals or agency offices).  It is not unusual for a McKinley Consultant to be at the McKinley site two or more days per week.  It is expected that McKinley consultants will provide on average eight hours of consultation-related service for their school each week.
  • Assist McKinley administration and staff with assessment and intervention plans for identified individual students or targeted groups of students.
  • Assist with group programs and interventions as needed.
  • Schedule individual, family and dyad therapy cases at the assigned McKinley School.  Gather necessary paperwork from schools and/or families and provide to the designated Wediko office coordinator.
  • Monitor therapist productivity and understand billing policies adequately to provide supervision to therapists.
  • Provide clinical supervision to therapists.
  • Actively support, promote, and supervise family support services, e.g. family therapy, family support groups.  Support agency efforts to engage families in working with Wediko and their child’s school.
  • Attend weekly or bi-weekly McKinley Consultant meeting.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of trauma-informed treatment approaches, adequate to apply the models in school-based therapy and to teach the models in supervision.
  • Respond as needed to crisis situations in Wediko and in the schools.  Such crises may involve clients, schools, policies, personnel, physical space, audits, legal issues, and others.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • License to practice independently.

Abilities Required:

  • Experience in the field of child, adolescent, and family therapy; clinical consultation; and program consultation
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed treatment models; ARC; Flexibly Sequential Play Therapy (FSPT); Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS); collaborative problem solving; Side by Side™ social skills groups; and/or other models for school-based service delivery.
