.pageborder Substance Abuse Counselor IIA Volunteers of America Chesapeake Volunteers of America  Chesapeake, Inc. founded in 1896 in Baltimore, is the  locally chartered affiliate of Volunteers of America,  Inc., one of the nations largest and most comprehensive  human services organizations.   Volunteers of America  Chesapeake accomplishes its spiritually based mission  by serving over 10,000 people annually through programs  that spread geographically from Baltimore, Maryland  to Virginia Beach, Virginia.   LOCATION: Arlington,  VA  REPORTS TO: DUAL DIAGNOSIS  COUNSELOR (Lead Counselor)  2 Full-time positions:  Monday through Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm and Sunday  through Thursday, 7:30am-3:30pm  The Substance Abuse Counselor  IIA reports to the Lead Counselor and will coordinate  the design, implementation, and evaluation of individual  treatment and discharge plans. They will also provide  clinical services including individual and group counseling  to residents of the Substance Abuse Treatment Unit and  coordinate service delivery to that population.   Additionally, they will  liaise with county agencies, mental health and substance  abuse service providers and other entities to assist  clients with smooth transition on re-entering the community.    When necessary, the successful  candidate will transport clients to treatment-oriented  activities. They will also participate in the development  of curriculum/schedule for Detoxification residents  and the maintenance of clinical records. Principle function  is to assist residents of the unit to maintain and strengthen  their commitment to sobriety and function as lead supervisor  when assigned.  REQUIREMENTS:  Either significant work  experience or graduation from an accredited college  or university with course work in substance abuse, psychology,  or sociology and at least one year of supervisory experience  managing the provision of services in a substance abuse  treatment program.   Preference will be given  to candidates with experience in residential detoxification  and post detoxification services and/or certification  as a Substance Abuse Counselor.
