The department of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is seeking a Licensed Independent Mental Health Professional (Counselor) to join our team! The Counselor is embedded in the Raikes School and supports the Raikes School student population's mental health care. The Counselor assists students in reaching their educational, developmental, and emotional goals by providing psychologically informed diagnostic services, treatment, consultation, and education. Consistent with CAPS's commitment to excellence, in this position you will connect and support underserved student group.
The Raikes School is a prestigious learning community for honors students interested in leadership in computer science and business management. The Counselor will be a professionally responsible member of an interdisciplinary team. The Counselor is responsible for fostering a sense of belonging amongst Raikes School students through the development and execution of programming and inclusive initiatives.
The Counselor will:
Provide individual, group, and relationship counseling and psychotherapy with UNL Students.
Be available and provide emergency response to students' mental health emergencies.
Conduct training, workshops, and classroom presentations as it relates to CAPS services.
Interact and collaborate with other professionals within the University Health Center and across campus.
Collaborate and consult with professional colleagues.
Perform routine case management.
May work occasional weekend and evening hours.
Once the Counselor has worked at CAPS for at least one year, they can choose to work an 11-month position with one month off in the summer.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master's degree, M.A.; M.S.; M.S.W.
Three years' experience in a multi-disciplinary psychological setting.
Licensure as a LiMHP in the State of Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing counseling and psychotherapy to traditionally underserved and diverse populations.
Experience working in a comprehensive counseling center at a college or university is helpful.
Exposure to stepped care and short-term models of counseling.
Pre-Placement Driving Record Review Required No
Physical Required No
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. No
