- New hires are placed on our starting wage scale of $90,000 to $110,200 per year
- Based on performance, there is room to grow over time on our full wage scale of $90,000 to $130,500 per year

Job Summary
We believe mental & emotional health is an important part of overall health and wellness. Our behavioral health team works closely with patients and their Primary Care Providers to help them meet their health care goals.
As the Specialty Behavioral Health (SBH) Supervisor, you would be responsible for supervision of the specialty behavioral health program and the employees within the department. The Supervisor's role is to ensure the integral duties are carried out successfully by the department employees. Duties are listed below:
- Provides supervision to departmental staff:
a. Assigns duties to employees; provides daily guidance and supervision.
b. Reviews employee assignments and provides specific instructions on completion of tasks/responsibilities.
c. Provides and/or ensures employees receive instruction/training needed to successfully complete their assigned job responsibilities.
d. Ensures that employees are aware of, and adhere to, appropriate company policies and procedures.
e. Provides input into the maintenance and upkeep of departmental job descriptions.
f. Prepares and conducts performance appraisals, including establishment and implementation of developmental plans, for direct reports.
g. Provides recommendations on hiring, corrective actions, and terminations; executes coaching.
- Provides direction to SBH team.
a. Develops team goals and objectives in partnership with BH Director
b. Updates team standards and procedures in conjunction with leadership team
c. Maintains team performance measures within the appropriate levels as required by strategic and operational plans.
d. Participates in hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions.
- Provides leadership as an active, contributing participant in management-level planning and management.
a. Serves as a member of the Behavioral Health leadership team and the UCNW management team, participating in robust discussions and contributing to decision making and implementation of initiatives.
b. Develops and implements operational plans for the SBH team, aligning them with departmental and organization-wide goals and objectives.
c. Works actively on enhancing clinical and leadership skills and effectiveness.
- Provides clinical supervision:
a. Provides clinical feedback and consultation to employed clinicians.
b. Provides clinical direction for complex issues.
c. Ensures appropriate clinical practice within scope.
- Maintains and develops programs:
a. Ensures all program procedures and workflows are accurate and up to date in collaboration with the BH Operations Manager.
b. Designs program solutions to meet clinical needs as they arise.
c. Trains/Retrains program and other impacted staff through program changes and development.
d. Represents and advocates for the SBH program at meetings.
- Performs clinical counseling:
a. Provides clinical assessment and diagnosis to assigned patient population.
b. Provides counseling services to a designated panel of patients.
c. Appropriately documents all patient interactions.
d. Consults with clinical team around shared patients.

Requirements
- Independent license as a Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage & Family Therapist or Psychologist in Washington State (or be eligible to obtain an independent license)
- Approved Supervisor Status with the Washington State Department of Health (or be eligible to obtain this) allowing you to perform clinical supervision - requirements can be reviewed at WAC 246-809-234:
- 5 or more years direct clinical experience with community health populations, preferably working in an integrated model
- 2 or more years' experience supervising and mentoring employees
- Full understanding of the theory behind how procedures and practices are developed, beyond how they are used at UCNW, in order to effectively make significant contributions to policy and procedure development
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (this can be obtained upon hire at no cost)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an Approved Supervisor as defined per WAC 246-809-234:
- Knowledge of state Medicaid mental health system functions, requirements, and changes, or proven ability to gain this knowledge
- Knowledge of the assessment and treatment of the full range of behavioral health disorders and familiarity with use of psychotropic medications
- Knowledge of how chronic medical issues and behavioral health interplay
- Able to perform behavioral health assessments, clinical documentation and report writing
- Skilled in counseling skills including short term treatment and crisis intervention
- Possess knowledge, experience, and, where applicable, certification in specific treatment modalities. Examples of specific skills and modalities include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Behavioral Activation, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Possesses BH clinical skills including, but not limited to: behavioral health assessments, screening, and referrals; direct individual therapy/crisis intervention; organization and facilitation of psycho-educational and support groups; case management, outreach, documentation of assessments and progress notes
- Ability to follow all UCNW protocols, including those related to clinic administration, patient care, and completion of timely chart notes
- Keyboarding speed of 30 wpm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Proficiency with or ability to learn all electronic systems used at UCNW including Electronic Medical Records, scheduling systems, HR/Payroll software, training system, instant messaging, video conferencing and telehealth software
Qualifications that are a Plus
- Knowledge of the local community and private mental health and human services resources
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS issues including prevention & psychosocial aspects
- Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) certification
- Ability to communicate bilingually in Spanish or Russian
