JOB TYPE: Full-time, 12-month

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides confidential, culturally competent mental health services to students enrolled at the university. This role includes individual counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and participation in wellness initiatives. The LPC works collaboratively with campus partners to support student success, personal growth, and mental health and well-being.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling to students experiencing emotional, psychological, academic, or social difficulties.
  • Conducting substance abuse assessments for students.
  • Deliver crisis assessment and intervention services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Develop and facilitate outreach programs, prevention outreach, psychoeducational workshops, and mental health awareness initiatives across campus.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, student organizations, and other campus partners to promote student well-being.
  • Consult with concerned faculty, staff, parents, and students regarding student behavior and mental health concerns, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
  • Participate in weekly clinical staff meetings, case consultations, and supervision (as applicable).
  • Maintain licensure and engage in ongoing professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES FOR THE JOB

Education

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience providing counseling services (can include supervised graduate work).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a higher education or college counseling center setting.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and/or brief therapy models.
  • Familiarity with case management systems and electronic health records.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment within a counseling center setting.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for outreach, crisis response, or training activities.
