TITLE: School Based Mental Health Therapist (200 day contract)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold appropriate Michigan certification and/or credentials as outlined by the Michigan Department of Licensing And Regulatory Affairs (LARA). This includes licensure as a master's level Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Psychologist, BCBA, or a licensed Psychiatrist.
SALARY: Excellent salary & benefit package. Commensurate with education and experience.

START DATE: 2025-26 School Year
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist school personnel in identifying appropriate student referrals and understanding the role of the school based mental health therapist
Triage referrals to prioritize interventions
Possess sound clinical judgment of mental health interventions
Knowledge of child development
Secure necessary consent for treatment
Provide individual and group mental health interventions for students as appropriate
Act as a liaison between school, community partners, and families to secure needed services for eligible students
Knowledge of, and active participation in, emergency response practices, crisis intervention, and de escalation strategies
Knowledge of Michigan Mental Health Code
Participate in school intervention and student study teams
Provide and promote sound mental health interventions, guidance, referrals, and initiatives
Timely submission of all required documentation including Medicaid billing
Collect data to evaluate student progress and program effectiveness
Regular communication with parents, school staff, and community partners
Upon request, provide professional learning and consultative services to local educational staff
Provide non violent crisis intervention training (Handle With Care) to school staff as assigned
Be student centered and advocate for all students
Other duties as assigned

Regular and reliable attendance
Daily travel
Understand and embrace the inclusion of all students
Possess valid driver's license and maintain all required professional licensure
Pass all required background checks
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; Excellent verbal and written skills
Ability to multitask and complete assigned tasks with and without direct supervision
Ability to integrate technology into everyday work flow
Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with students, school staff, families, and community partners
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide and/or recommend appropriate clinical interventions
Practice safe work habits; Adapt to frequent changes in work environment
Ability to lift/carry items up to 50 pounds, frequent walking, standing, sitting, going up/down stairs
Occasional home visits to provide services and/or obtain information to assist with evaluations
Occasional irregular or extended work hours to meet multiple demands, training, and services
Carry out the mission and values of the MC-ISD
