Job Location: Salt Lake City - Salt Lake County Jail, Adult Detention & Programs Division

Compensation: DOE

Schedule: 25 Hours (TBD)

Odyssey House (Criminal Justice Program) is hiring a part-time licensed mental health therapist to join our team of experienced staff who will make our justice-served treatment program unique and successful. The Odyssey House Criminal Justice Program is facilitated in the Salt Lake County Jail, dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their lives through effective substance abuse treatment, prevention, and mental health referral services.

Our goal with the Criminal Justice Program (CJP) is to create a structure for inmates while incarcerated and have wrap-around community support lined up before their release. Services are FREE to inmates and not an additional financial burden to them or their families. CJP includes the Correctional Addictions Treatment Service (CATS), Interim Drug Offender Group Services (DOGS), and Prime for Life.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to pass a Salt Lake County Sheriffs Office BCI
  • Work with minimum security populations within the Salt Lake County Jail
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and communication with jail staff as outlined in Salt Lake County conduct training.
  • Appropriately diagnose mental health and substance-related conditions using the DSM-5
  • Appropriately assess client needs using the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria.
  • Develop an effective level of rapport with clients while maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Complete thorough and effective assessments in the required time frame.
  • Provide documentation to support the coordination of client mental health evaluations and other wrap-around services to provide effective care.
  • Utilize motivational and evidence-based techniques to retain and support clients during assessments.
  • Complete assessments within the appropriate client management system within 24 hours.
  • Accurately document services using ASAM Dimensional Analysis format, including all required elements.
  • As indicated, provide and collaborate on clinical recommendations and concerns with the clinical team appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants must be licensed mental health professionals, including LCSW, CMHC, ACMHC, LMFT, MFTI, and/or another graduate degree in the mental health field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in direct clinical care (preferred)
