Job Title: Mental Health Therapist (Level I or II)

Location: Maryland sites- This includes the medical clinic located in Hyattsville and schools in Prince George's

Classification: Non-Exempt/ Salaried

Synopsis: La Clinica del Pueblo (LCDP) seeks a licensed and bilingual (English/Spanish) clinician to join our growing Mental Health team in Prince George's County, Maryland. To provide assessment, counseling, and therapy services to a diverse population on-site and through Video-conferencing technology. Mental health clinicians are a vital member of the care team. They actively work and collaborate with diverse care team members.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical work experience providing individual, family, and group therapy to the Latino immigrant population.

Required Skills/Abilities/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Good English writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills and experience
  • Licensed in MD as LMSW/LGPC or LCSW-C, LCPC

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Three years of clinical experience providing individual, family, and group therapy to the Latinopopulation.
  • Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, ACT, and Psychodynamic Interventions

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Provide mental health counseling and therapy to adults, adolescents, children, and families (on-site) and video-conferencing technology.

  2. Provide mental health counseling and therapy using different theoretical approaches (Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, psychodynamic) according to clients' needs.

  3. Provide mental health counseling in multiple locations where mental health therapy services are provided.

  4. Provide mental health assessments to clients referred by other programs through the Triage system and recommend appropriate treatment based on results.

  5. Maintain a panel of patients to ensure appropriate access to mental health services.

  6. Communicate with medical providers, RNs, case managers, school staff, and other team members to provide updates regarding client progress.

  7. Provide crisis intervention services as needed. Ensure that measures are taken to protect the safety of clients and staff.

  8. Develop treatment plans for each client based on their mental health diagnosis and psychosocial needs.

  9. Implement identified screening and evaluation tools as required per program.

  10. Follow departmental protocol for clinical documentation, as well as tracking of appointments in the EcW system.

  11. Attend inter-disciplinary meetings as directed by Clinical Mental Health Manager and/or Department Director.

  12. Provide monthly data reports as requested by Department Director and Program manager.

  13. Participate in community activities as needed.

  14. Other duties as requested by Program Manager or Department Director

Supervisory Responsibilities: For this role, independent licensed clinicians will be asked to provide clinical supervision to potential mental health interns.

  • Help in Recruiting, interviewing, and training mental health interns.
  • Oversees interns' practice.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations as requested by schools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on acomputer.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet awayand more than a few feet away.
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble small objects.
  • Focus on one source of sound and ignore others.
