The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $22.20 , the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."
Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Under the general direction of the Crisis Services Program Manager, responsible for clinical screenings, assessments, crisis intervention, and determining service eligibility based on consumer needs. Coordinates and links to needed services, provides skills training and psychosocial rehabilitation as appropriate, and monitors consumer progress with meeting treatment goals. Delivers interventions such as crisis de-escalation, case management services, treatment planning and discharge planning. Provides clinical interventions to address the need for on-going outpatient services and/or inpatient admission. This position requires travel and flexible hours. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Primary working hours 8:00am to 5:00pm but flexible.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education or early childhood intervention. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.
Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training
- Computer literate
- Ability to participate as a team member
- Basic understanding of mental illness, common signs and symptoms, and able to identify difficulties with coping in community settings
- Considerable knowledge of assessment techniques and tools
- Knowledge of client care techniques, and of treatment, therapy and of developmental programs
- Ability to develop an individualized treatment plan with consumer
- Ability to work with others and to gain and retain the confidence of persons being instructed, guided, or directed
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to formulate, organize, and implement a plan of action.
- Local community resource knowledge
