A Day in the Life of a Mental Health Case Manager Graduate Assistant
Provides consistent and direct comprehensive care to the psychiatric and recovery patients in a Case Management capacity. Case Management is provided via discharge planning, direct counseling with patients and their families, clinical interventions, resource referral and consultation with other unit staff. This position is a graduated offer that is only the internship timeframe for this student to then become a MSW graduate and work toward licensed practitioner.
What You Will Do:
•
Develops and implements treatment plan for stabilization, mobilization and disposition appropriate for patient care within 72 hours of patient admission.
•
Assesses coping mechanisms and current functioning in following areas: interpsychic, identity, inter-personal, family and group dynamics.
•
Plans and develops group treatments as a member of a multi-discipline team.
•
Implements group treatments ensuring a safe, comfortable therapeutic environment.
•
Ensures the follow-through of treatment goals concerning DBT therapy.
•
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements.
•
Maintains clinical skills through continuing education.

Ability to assess situations/systems to formulate plans, select appropriate interventions, and evaluate policies/procedures

Strong leadership skills and problem-solving skills required with short and long-term memory proficiency
What You Will Need:
•
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or healthcare related field from an accredited college/university
•
Currently enrolled in Master’s degree program in mental health field, graduate within 2 years’ of job start date
•
Two years’ experience in clinical care and case management
•
One year in-patient or residential adult psychiatric or recovery experience
•
Initial and annual CPI training completion as required for practice within the department
