The Psychiatric Technician provides care and support to patients with mental health, emotional, or behavioral conditions under the supervision of licensed nursing and medical staff. This role includes monitoring patient behavior, assisting with daily living activities, administering basic treatments, and ensuring a safe therapeutic environment. The Psychiatric Technician plays an essential role in supporting treatment plans and promoting patient well-being.

How YOU can Make an Impact:

  • Assist in the care, treatment, and supervision of patients with psychiatric and/or behavioral health needs.

  • Monitor patients' physical and emotional condition, reporting significant changes to nursing or medical staff.

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, while promoting independence.

  • Observe, document, and chart patient behaviors, responses, and interactions in accordance with facility protocols.

  • Participate in implementing individualized treatment plans under the direction of licensed clinicians.

  • Use de-escalation techniques and approved interventions to manage disruptive or unsafe behavior.

  • Ensure patient safety by monitoring for self-harm, elopement, or other risks, and intervening as appropriate.

  • Assist with group activities, recreational therapy, and patient engagement opportunities.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment in compliance with infection control and safety standards.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support patient care and recovery goals.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What we Ask of YOU:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Psychiatric Technician, Behavioral Health Technician, or Mental Health Technician training program preferred.

  • Licensure/Certification: Certification as a Psychiatric Technician (CPT) is preferred but not required.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of supervised clinical experience required; prior experience in behavioral health, correctional healthcare, or a clinical setting preferred.

  • Experience in roles that involve direct patient care or administrative support in a regulated environment is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to the correctional setting is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, adhere to protocols, and deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced, structured environment.

  • Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved).
