Job Summary : The Community Based Mental Health Therapist (MHT) will provide in-home and community-based comprehensive and individualized mental health services to youth, ages 2-18, and their families. These services include assessment, treatment planning, safety planning, individual and family therapy, as well as crisis support, care coordination, and case management. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team including therapists, skills trainers, case managers, and a licensed medical provider. Our Community-Based Program is meant to provide short-term (3-9 months) intensive services for clients experiencing acute behavioral health and crisis response needs. Each therapist carries a caseload of 8-10 clients who reside in the Portland-Metro area. This position requires candidates to drive throughout the workday , to clients' homes in Multnomah and parts of Clackamas counties. In-house Licensure supervision toward LCSW, LPC and LMFT is provided! Duties and Responsibilities: Provides mental health services for youth, ages 2-18, and their families: assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual, and family therapy. Provides case management, crisis support, safety planning, coordination of care, referrals to ancillary and/or specialty services, and group therapy, as needed. Shares in being part of the team's on-call rotation. Each clinician is on call for one week at a time, with a backup supervisor for support. Completes all clinical documentation in accordance with state, federal and organizational requirements, emphasizing collaborative documentation. Applies knowledge of the local mental health system and collaborates with partners such as Coordinated Care organizations, Department of Human Services, Wraparound Services, Primary Care Providers, Emergency Departments/Services, and other Mental Health Providers. Abides by the appropriate code of ethics and follows all of Morrison's policies and procedures. Is present and punctual for work, supervision, and/or meetings. Works well within a team environment, sharing workload, credit, and opportunities. Completes other duties as assigned to ensure successful operation of program or department. Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices. Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization. Competencie s : Assessment and Diagnostic Skills: Training and knowledge in assessing and diagnosing mental health conditions in children using standardized tools and clinical judgment as evidenced by graduate program transcript and completion of Intake and Assessment training. Treatment Planning: Skill in collaboratively identifying measurable goals/objectives for treatment as evidenced by completion of the treatment planning training, supervisor observation, and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Basic Counseling Skills: Training and knowledge of basic counseling skills including active listening, being aware of nonverbal communication, and building rapport as evidenced by graduate program transcript. Privacy and Confidentiality : Understanding HIPAA and ensuring client confidentiality and privacy as evidenced by completion of Orientation Part II. Suicide Prevention and Intervention: Demonstrates knowledge and skill in screening for suicide risk, conducting suicide risk assessments, and effectively triaging as evidenced by completion of Suicide Prevention and Intervention training and supervisor review of documentation. Crisis Intervention and Management: Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to support clients experiencing a mental health crisis including de-escalation techniques and facilitating access to appropriate crisis services as evidenced by completion of crisis intervention policy/procedure training, completion of de-escalation training, and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Mandatory Reporting: Understands and complies with mandatory reporting requirements. Uses developmentally appropriate and trauma informed approach to follow agency protocol for mandatory reporting as evidenced by completion of mandatory reporting training and supervisor review of clinical documentation. Required Position Qualifications : Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field Experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health, social services, educational, or other related setting. Preferred Position Qualifications : Bilingual abilities, including the ability to speak, read, write, and translate documents in Spanish. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish. CADC Certification Current Oregon or other state behavioral health license Two years direct treatment experience with children and/or adolescents in a mental health setting Other Requirements: Pass a DHS (Department of Human Services) criminal history background Ability to work on-call rotation every 4-6 weeks. (Will receive a $150 stipend for every week on-call) Must hold valid driver's license Oregon or Washington within 30 days of hire and meet agency driving requirements Working Conditions : Environment : Work is done in clinical offices, community settings, including Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise, and contaminants. Mental demands : Work assigned is diverse and may involve addressing new and unique circumstances. The work might be unpredictable and disrupts planned tasks, requiring flexible time management. Physical demands : Ability to remain calm and emotionally available serving youth, adults and or families who have experienced trauma. Proficient with office equipment and physical movement. Ability to perform physical interventions if needed in accordance with program and training. Physical dexterity for reaching, stooping, and repetitive wrist and hand motions.
