JOBPURPOSE: The Qualified Mental Health Professional is a key member of the treatment teamwho provides direct care skills training, rehabilitative services andcoordination of care to individuals assigned to their caseload. Performsassessments and develops recovery plans in a person-centered, trauma-informedand developmentally appropriate manner which supports individuals in meetingtheir chosen goals. Ability to build rapport and work independently areessential. Proficient use of technology to stay organized and document servicestimely is required.
MentalHealth Professionals in Child & Adolescent Programs perform a variety ofdifferent roles based on program assignment. For Example:
• Child and AdolescentCommunity Services : Provide community-based case management, carecoordination and curriculum based skills training for emotionally orbehaviorally disturbed children and their parents or families. Performsclinical assessments to determine service needs and progress toward goals. Coordinatesservices with medical and behavioral health providers and with educational,social service and juvenile justice agencies. Services provided in clinic, community,schools and homes.
• Youth Empowerment Services (YES) : Serve asintensive case manager for small caseloads of seriously emotionally disturbedyouths. Facilitate the "wraparound" planning process and the monthlychild-family team meetings. Trackprogress toward goals and objectives and adjust wraparound plans as needed.This role is a community-based position with most of the time spent servingyouths in the community or the child's home.
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college oruniversity with a major in social, behavioral or human services or is aregistered nurse. (Social, behavioral, and human services are: psychology; social work; medicine; nursing; rehabilitation; counseling;sociology; human development; physician's assistant; gerontology; educationpsychology; special education; early childhood intervention; or early childhoodeducation.)
DEGREEAND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE): BA/BS or RN

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Appropriatewritten and verbal communication, including proper spelling and grammar.
• Abilityto learn to write progress notes, assessments, brief mental status exams,memos, letters, various complex reports and other documents according to agencystandards.
• Computer- skilled in the use of computer technology, particularly with Microsoft Officeapplications. Familiarity with anyelectronic medical record is a plus.
• Familiaritywith community mental health and other resources
• Abilityto build rapport with individuals including coworkers.
• Demonstrateskill in utilizing appropriate professional tools and interventions.
• Comfortinteracting with individuals of diverse cultural, ethnic, and economicbackgrounds and with social service, healthcare, educational and criminaljustice organizations.
• Acquiresand uses new skills as the job requires.
• Abilityto work with considerable latitude and exercise discretion and independentjudgment. This would include personal initiative and problem solvingskills.
• Abilityto complete all job requirements in a timely manner.

• Maybe required to interact with other consumers, referral sources, outsideagencies, and family members to determine needs and actions to be taken.
• CurrentState of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must becurrently licensed in that state.
• Liabilityinsurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center propertyor for Center business. Must be insurable by Center's liability carrierif employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Centerbusiness.
• Mustcomplete all training requirements in month in which they are due.
• Maybe required to provide on-call duties.
• Availabilityof a personal vehicle for business use may be required.
• Workmay take place within clinic-office or community settings (schools, nursinghomes, emergency rooms, clients' residences, shelters etc.) and mayinteractions with agitated or disruptive individuals.
• Maybe responsible for providing group services and/or crisis services as needed.
• Mustpass a pre-employment drug test.
• Mustsuccessfully pass all background screens as required by the state
• Abilityto input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, producereports.
• Mustbe physically able to perform all job requirements that may include homevisits, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing or sittingfor long periods of time if required.
• SomeQMHP positions require flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, andholidays as needed.
