The Licensed Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing services to students who need emotional support. The therapist will exhibit a broad knowledge base in child/adolescent development and the social and emotional needs of young people and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and assessment skills; effectiveness in speaking publicly, in writing, and in writing collaboration.RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide short-term support for students using creative therapeutic modalities to reach adolescents with difficulty connecting with supportive adults. Coordinate and review evaluative data from outside professionals. Nourish healthy interaction between students, faculty/staff, and parents. Offer educational in-services to residential staff and faculty. Provide crisis intervention for students as needed, including night calls. Facilitate student groups relating to mental health issues. Foster supportive and collegial teamwork with professional staff. Complete special projects as assigned.This position requires excellent writing skills, innovative program development strategies, superior competence in assessment, sharp organization/time management skills, and dynamic communication techniques for individual, small and large group settings.REQUIREMENTS:Education and License: A Master's Degree, that leads to Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required. Indiana Licensure or the ability to obtain an Indiana Licensure within six months.Clinical Experience: Developed understanding of assessing and treating trauma experiences and a fundamental understanding of eating disorders. Comfortable using differing modalities to meet the needs of population for ages 8-19 coed.
