Collect and share data, knowledge, and ideas to serve our misunderstood students living on the spectrum. Collaborate with a TEAM for best outcomes, supporting students with significant communication, behavioral, academic, social, emotional and daily living needs across school and community settings. We are flexible to hire immediately or when your contract runs out.Implement instructional and intervention strategies as specified Provide 1:1 service and direct supervision to identified studentsDevelop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of each assigned students Individualized Plan of Care (IPC)Collect, maintain, and file on-going data required for progress monitoring and billingMaintain familiarity with students IEP; implement as outlinedComplete agency, billing and program paperwork accurately, timely, and compliant Actively participate in meetings: bring agenda items, ask questions, share ideasBe on time for the workdayMaintain and utilize personal cell phone to communicate with colleagues via voice, text, and emailTherapeutic and Behavior Services:Manage the physical safety of students and others by utilizing antecedent management, de-escalation strategies, and physical intervention as trained and certifiedPrepare for, respond to, and debrief crisis as necessarySupport development and maintenance of a positive learning environment; model therapeutic relationshipsAppropriately advocate for students by communicating needs, observations, and changes in a timely fashion; provide insights on what interventions are effective as well as strategies that could be modifiedCommunicate professionally with family/caregiver through daily home/school journalsFoster a positive approach to collaborative problem solvingProvide transportation to and from community activitiesOther duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelors in a related field is preferred; however, a bachelor's degree nearing completion and relevant experience, such as Intensive Special Needs Paraprofessional or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), may be considered.Must have experience supporting autistic individuals and/or individuals with intensive needs.Successfully clearing (and maintaining clearance) Criminal Background Check. Valid drivers license, excellent driving record, and daily access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle. Special Position Requirements: This position is a Mandated Reporter, as such, is required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect to authorities.Must be able to work effectively within the structure of the school keeping Laraway ethics and conduct expectations for behavior at the forefront at all times. Ability to complete and maintain Handle with Care, Part 1 and Part 2. Ability to complete and maintain medical Handle with Care certification.Ability to pass and maintain First Aid & CPR certificationWork/Physical Requirements: Given the at-risk population served, the position requires ongoing training and preparedness in the execution of physical restraint techniques. This may require running to catch a student. The Handle with Care training program specifies that individuals with back and neck limitations are likely to be hampered in the execution of the protocols and greatly increases risk of harm to self or student.Ability to engage with youth in a variety of activities ranging from art, music, cooking and physical activities such hiking and other outdoor sports.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.*****Note: The work conditions and environment described here are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
