About the Facility – VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHS)
The VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is part of Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 22 and provides comprehensive medical and mental health services to veterans across the Inland Empire and surrounding communities. Located at 11201 Benton Street in Loma Linda, CA, the healthcare system includes the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center and multiple Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). VALLHS offers a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services, including primary care, specialty care, surgical services, mental health and behavioral health programs, and rehabilitation services. The facility is recognized for its strong academic affiliations and training programs.

Psychiatrist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Provide the full range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to eligible veterans within the Behavioral Health Service at VALLHS.
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for a diverse population, including geriatric and post-deployment combat veterans with complex psychosocial issues.
• Provide diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
• Manage psychiatric emergencies including assessments for potential psychiatric hospitalization in the Emergency Department.
• Provide psycho-diagnostic services and apply the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in delivering quality care.
• Serve as a mental health team leader with responsibilities for coordinating consults and triage of specialty clinic referrals, as assigned.
• Participate in team meetings, treatment planning conferences, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to enhance coordination of comprehensive patient care.
• Order diagnostic tests and consultations, discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, and make appropriate treatment decisions.
• May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program and perform on-call duties as assigned.
• Manage clinical conditions including depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse, and other psychiatric disorders across outpatient, inpatient, ED, and VA Video Connect settings.

Psychiatrist - REQUIREMENTS

• A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Must have board certification/eligibility in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent.
• Shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Completed residency training in Psychiatry approved by ACGME or AOA.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Must have a current BLS certificate.
