JOB TITLE: Registered Behavior Technician

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Registered Behavior Technician Credential

  2. Previous experience, preferred

  3. High school graduate or equivalent and academic competency in basic skills.

  4. Adequate strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks including lifting, stooping, and bending.

  5. Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships

  6. Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan.

Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

  2. Works 1-on-1 with students utilizing principles of Applied Behavior.

  3. Analyzes methodologies and implements strategies stated in his/her Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

  4. Prepares materials as necessary for implementing individualized programs as stated above.

  5. Works across schools and classrooms collaboratively with regular and special education teachers, as assigned.

  6. Provides direct behavior support to students in 1:1 and group settings.

  7. Implements student behavior intervention plans (BIP), educational plans, and activities of daily living under the supervision of the BCBA and special education case manager, to assist students with utilizing appropriate behaviors and decreasing maladaptive behaviors.

  8. Records quality behavioral data to monitor individual's progress and reports any progress or regression in attaining objectives of educational plans to the BCBA and case manager.

  9. Assists with graphing collected data pursuant to guidelines and parameters provided by BCBA and special education teacher,s as assigned.

  10. Complies with all applicable laws, certification requirements, codes of conduct/ethics, reporting requirements (e.g., mandated reporting, reporting to licensure board, self-reporting to the BACB), and professional practice requirements related to role.

  11. Participates in professional development training programs, as required.

  12. Exhibits a clear understanding of the IEP information as it pertains to his/her role.

  13. Attends regular supervision sessions with supervising BCBA.

  14. Maintains appropriate RBT certification and training as it is related to the position.

  15. Serves as an active member of the Special Education Triage Team.

  16. Attends IEP meetings, as appropriate.

  17. Provides guidance and support to local school staff regarding behavior interventions and implementation of behavior plans.

  18. Assists BCBA with the development of crisis intervention plans, as appropriate.

  19. Performs all other duties as assigned by appropriate administrators.

  3. Basic English and mathematics skills.

  4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  5. Basic knowledge of technology and ability to apply knowledge to assigned areas of responsibility.

  6. Ability to plan and organize.

  7. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.

  8. Ability to be flexible.

  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  10. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
