Registered Behavior Technician

Job Responsibilities

Truman State University is seeking a full-time Registered Behavior Technician for the Greenwood Interprofessional Autism Center located on Truman's campus in Kirksville, Missouri.

The primary duty of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is to implement applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment plans under the direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Implementation of behavior intervention plans include teaching new skills, reducing problem behaviors, reinforcing positive behaviors, and collecting data. The RBT collaborates with other members of the client's treatment team, including parents, the BCBA, and fellow RBTs, and maintains interprofessional relationships with other providers such as speech, occupational, and physical therapists. Being an RBT requires patience, creativity, flexibility, and motivation to help others in their journey to reach their full potential.

Completion of paid RBT certification training (provided for otherwise qualified candidate if hired)

Direct care to the clients and implementation of behavior intervention plans

Data collection and documentation

Communicate effectively with members of the treatment team, including the client themselves, caregivers, and other professionals

Administrative tasks such as keeping client records up to date and preparing materials for therapy sessions

Protection of patient health information and maintenance of confidentiality

Dedication, compassion, and commitment to bettering the lives of the clients

Performance of other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to pass background check

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong time management skills

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and comfortable learning new technologies

Ability to physically assist patients during an emergency

Ability to physically assist patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, or self-care tasks when required or requested

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or pursual of degree in human services or healthcare field
