This contract opportunity requires an experienced RN comfortable managing a fast-paced, challenging unit dedicated primarily to patients aged 14-18 presenting with diagnoses such as suicidal ideation, self-injury, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, aggression, psychosis, and state guardianship. Units average 18-21 patients daily, with staffing models prioritizing safety and strong support networksincluding case management, therapy, security, and 24/7 code response teams. Schedule/Hours: Three 12-hour shifts per week Every third weekend rotation No on-call; holiday coverage per scheduled facility days Flexibility with shifts and unit assignments required, including floating to various age groups Key Qualifications: Active RN license Minimum 6 months of recent psychiatric inpatient experience BLS certification; CPI to be obtained onsite (physical program competency required) At least one completed travel assignment Demonstrated proficiency in verbal deescalation, effective use of physical holds, and safe application of seclusion/restraint measures if needed Skilled in IM injections and proactive agitation recognition Resilience, outstanding patience, and the ability to multitask in high-stress scenarios EMR experience with Cerner preferred Duties Include: Delivering direct nursing care to a diverse adolescent psychiatric population Crisis intervention and successful event management for escalated patients/situations Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including program coordinators, MHTs, therapists, and security to ensure patient and staff safety Consistent, compassionate patient advocacy and documentation of clinical interventions in Cerner Floating to other behavioral health units as necessary Perks: Free onsite parking Supportive leadership focused on staff wellbeing and safety Galaxy Blue scrub requirement If you thrive in a structured, team-oriented psychic healthcare setting and bring strong clinical and deescalation skills, apply today to help empower vulnerable youth in need.
