Job Description
Position Summary:
As program director, responsibilities include providing leadership to the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program, including conducting regional and district needs assessments and deploying the resources of the specialists, under the direction of CCI. The Program Director will be the expert, in collaboration with the LIU faculty and LEA leadership teams, on addressing mental health needs, providing support to students, families and schools and the facilitation of recruits into the mental health field. The director will have a primary role in implementing the training/support and coaching of project staff, district leadership teams and oversee the Mental Health Awareness Training protocol.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond to directives of the CCI and deploy resources accordingly
Ensure all work of the Mental Health Service Professional Demonstration Grant Program is in alignment with grant deliverables and CCI priorities
Participate in regional needs assessment and planning in collaboration with CCI and LEAs
Conduct a needs assessment with identified districts to determine specialist deployment, and to better understand the mental health needs within that district
Oversee all data collection, progress monitoring and evaluation
Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Expertise in evidence-based mental health services
Spanish speaking
Extensive knowledge of research-based interventions, instruction, and learning strategies
Experience providing training, coaching professional development and/or technical assistance
Strong presentation skills
Strong interpersonal skills that support interacting with families and school/agency personnel
Education Requirements:
Minimum of a Master's degree in the mental health field; Doctorate preferred
Working Conditions:
Typical office setting with privacy, required regular travel to various locations throughout Long Island and occasionally work hours will be required during nights and weekends.
Materials and Equipment:
Computer, copier, scanner, wireless access, phone and fax.
