Position Type: Student Support Services/Behavior Specialist Date Posted: 5/14/2026 Location: District Date Available: August 2026 Long-term Substitute Behavior Specialist is needed from August through mid-October 2026! PURPOSE: The Behavior Specialist is a federal grant funded position through both Title 1 and IDEA funds. The Behavior Specialist will work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement behavior intervention plans and directly support students exhibiting challenging behaviors. The Behavior Specialist will have expertise in behavioral analysis, special education, or psychology, preferably holding a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) certification, LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist), or a relevant psychology degree. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master\'s degree preferred in School Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, School Social Work, or a related field. 2. Preferred certifications: BCBA, LBS1, or Licensed/Certified Psychologist-Social Worker. 3. Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational setting. 4. Strong understanding of behavioral analysis and intervention techniques. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 6. Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality. 7. Ability to work collaboratively, create and maintain effective relationships with others within a team-based environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Crisis Intervention: a. Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, ensuring the safety of all students and staff. b. Develop proactive strategies to prevent crisis situations. 2. Assessment and Evaluation: a. Conduct functional behavior assessments to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors. b. Analyze data to inform intervention strategies and monitor student progress. 3. Intervention Planning: a. Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to each student\'s needs. b. Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate behavior interventions within the classroom environment. 4. Training and Support: a. Provide training and professional development for teachers and staff on behavior management strategies and best practices. b. Offer ongoing support to staff in the implementation of behavior interventions. 5. Collaboration: a. Work closely with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive environment for students. b. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support for students with diverse needs. 6. Data Collection and Reporting: a. Collect and analyze data on student behavior and intervention effectiveness. b. Prepare reports and documentation to track student progress and inform stakeholders. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. SALARY: The long-term sub rate is $313.38 per day LOCATION: Primary schools (minimal travel between schools within the district) TERM: August 2026- mid-October 2026 ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
