Behavioral Health Medical Director Job ID: 88033 Location: USA Remote on Approved States Only Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Medical Director for a fully remote, temp-to-perm opportunity with a nationally recognized healthcare organization supporting complex managed care populations. This physician leader will provide clinical oversight, behavioral health consultation, utilization management support, and medical leadership within a collaborative managed care environment. Candidates must currently reside in one of the approved states. What you will be doing: Provide clinical leadership and behavioral health expertise across medical management operations Support utilization management, quality management, case management, and disease management functions Conduct medical necessity reviews and peer-to-peer consultations Collaborate with senior medical leadership on behavioral health strategy and integrated care initiatives Provide consultation and clinical guidance to care management and behavioral health teams Participate in committees, quality improvement efforts, and operational initiatives Review behavioral health operations and identify process improvement opportunities Serve as a behavioral health subject matter expert within a managed care environment What you must have: MD (Doctor of Medicine) required Board Certification in Psychiatry required Current unrestricted U.S. medical license U.S. Citizenship required Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense security clearance Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience Minimum 5 years of medical management experience within managed care Strong background in: Utilization Management (UM) Quality Management (QM) Case Management Disease Management Strong communication and physician leadership capabilities Nice to have: TRICARE, VA, or government healthcare experience Advanced degree or certification in medical management Experience within complex healthcare systems and matrix organizations Technical & Remote Requirements Dedicated home office environment required Hard-wired Ethernet/IPv4 internet connection required Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and leadership groups Flexibility to support occasional priority leadership meetings outside standard business hours ???????The ideal candidate is a collaborative physician leader with deep behavioral health and managed care expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, highly matrixed healthcare environment.
