Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Job Summary:
CASES is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a passion for working with adolescents and young adults with serious mental illness, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders, limited social supports, and/or criminal legal involvement.
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work as part of a small multidisciplinary team providing coordinated and assertive treatment in the earliest stages of illness. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner engages the consumer in shared decision making about medication and the next steps in medication treatment. Medication management will be guided by a medication algorithm that provides information about evolving best practices.
OnTrackNY is an innovative treatment program that serves adolescents and young adults who are within 2 years of experiencing the onset of non-affective psychosis.
Salary: The salary for this role is $164,000 per year.
Shift Hours: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is full-time position working Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm, or 10:00am – 6 :00pm. We're open to hearing from applicants wishing to do part-time working either two (2) or three (3) days per week.
Location Address : 424 East 147th Street, Bronx, N.Y. 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - (for roles that have days that can be partially remote, e.g., being able to draft notes at home after going to the office/community in the morning).
What You Will Be Doing:
- Assess the need for medications targeting specific symptoms of psychosis and other co-morbid conditions such as depressed mood and anxiety.
- Systematically manage and monitor dose changes and side effects to ensure the safety and tolerability of these medications.
- Will provide ongoing diagnostic assessment.
- Will provide ongoing safety assessment and crisis interventions.
- Will provide on going assistance and support for preventing and coping with relapses.
- Will provide psychoeducation regarding diagnosis and medications for participants and family members.
- Will go out into the field if needed.
- Will participate in weekly team meetings as well and mandated OnTrack training.
- Will be available by phone, after hours (nights and weekends).
- Help ensure we maintain a safe working environment by reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions, e.g., liquid spill in hallway, to the appropriate facilities staff member or supervisor.
What We Are Looking For:
- NYS licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Training and experience working with adolescents and/or young adults with serious mental illness
- Experience in community-based mental health services
Preferred Skills:
- Fluency in Spanish
