Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative School BCBA to support students and staff within a school-based setting in Norfolk, VA for the 2026-2027 school year. The BCBA will provide behavioral support services across 5 classrooms, working closely with teachers, paraprofessionals, and school staff to promote positive student outcomes and maintain safe, structured learning environments. This role requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable modeling interventions in real time, training staff on evidence-based ABA strategies, and supporting classrooms proactively and responsively.
Key Responsibilities
Provide behavioral support services for a caseload of approximately 10-15 students
Support and consult with staff across 5 classrooms
Train teachers and paraprofessionals on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and best practices
Analyze behavioral data to reduce negative behaviors and increase positive behaviors
Model effective intervention techniques in real time, including:
Positive reinforcement strategies
De-escalation techniques
Classroom behavior management
Safe and orderly classroom procedures
Provide ongoing follow-up communication and guidance after classroom modeling and support
Collaborate with school staff to implement behavior intervention plans and data collection systems
Assist as a classroom support staff member during staffing shortages or staff absences, as needed
Facilitate professional development trainings on PD days, including topics such as:
Data collection
Behavior management
Use of visual supports
ABA implementation strategies
Qualifications
Active BCBA certification required
Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, or related field
Previous school-based experience preferred
Strong collaboration, communication, and crisis-management skills
Ability to provide hands-on coaching and support in classroom settings
Preferred Skills
Experience working with students with behavioral and developmental needs
Knowledge of behavior intervention planning and classroom systems
