Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

The BCBA provides behavioral assessment, consultation, intervention planning, and staff support services for students with behavioral, emotional, developmental, and social communication needs within a public school setting. The BCBA collaborates with educators, related service providers, families, and administrators to develop and implement evidence-based behavioral supports that improve student access to educational environments and promote positive student outcomes across school settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and other behavioral evaluations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on data.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to guide interventions and measure student progress.
- Provide indirect behavioral support services to students across educational settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, psychologists, related service providers, and administrators regarding behavioral programming and classroom supports.
- Train and support school staff in behavior management strategies, crisis prevention, de-escalation techniques, and implementation of BIPs.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute behavioral recommendations, goals, accommodations, and progress updates.
- Support the development of positive behavioral supports and inclusive practices within classrooms and school programs.
- Assist in the development of data collection systems, progress monitoring tools, and behavioral documentation.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide consultation regarding environmental modifications and instructional strategies.
- Support students during transitions, crisis situations, and reintegration planning when needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district, state, federal, and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate with families to support consistency between school and home behavioral interventions.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain BCBA certification requirements.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, Education, or related field.
- Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- State licensure/certification as required (LABA, Teaching License Severe/Moderate disabilities ).
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA, special education regulations, IEP processes, and behavioral best practices.
- Strong skills in collaboration, communication, organization, and data analysis.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting students with autism spectrum disorders, emotional disabilities, ADHD, and social-emotional/behavioral challenges.
- Experience working within public school systems and multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with PBIS, trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and inclusion-based supports.
- Experience training paraprofessionals and school staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pass and maintain certification in district deescalation/restraint training.
- Ability to move throughout school buildings and classrooms.
- Ability to safely respond to student behavioral crises when necessary in accordance with district training and protocols.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and lift materials/equipment as needed.
