District Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - Leave Replacement Play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive and supportive learning environments for students with behavioral and developmental needs. The Ridgewood Public Schools is seeking a skilled and compassionate District Behaviorist (BCBA) to support elementary and middle school students with diverse disabilities across a variety of instructional settings. This district-wide role is essential in promoting positive behavior, fostering social-emotional growth, and providing targeted support to students, staff, and specialized programs throughout the district. The District Behaviorist will collaborate closely with Child Study Team members, administrators, teachers, related service providers, and families to support the implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and proactive classroom supports. Responsibilities also include supporting students within specialized programs, including the district's ERI program and MD program, which incorporates principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support students with more significant behavioral, communication, social-emotional, and learning needs. Key Responsibilities A. Behavioral Program Coordination Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to identify behavioral needs and underlying functions Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Provide direct consultation and coaching to teachers, CST members, and support staff Model evidence-based ABA strategies across instructional settings Analyze behavioral data to inform interventions and track student progress Support positive behavior and social-emotional development Collaborate with school teams to ensure consistent implementation of behavior supports Deliver training and professional development on behavior management and intervention strategies Assist in problem-solving challenging behaviors in elementary and middle school programs Consult with Child Study Teams regarding students placed in out-of-district behavioral programs Conduct formal and informal classroom and student observations Support K-12 Intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) teams as needed Provide classroom-based behavior strategies and support to staff Guide teachers in strengthening classroom management and learning environments Contribute to the design of programs aimed at preventing or modifying behavioral issues Train general and special education staff in data collection, analysis, and implementation of behavioral interventions B. Parent Training Coordination Design and oversee home- and school-based parent training procedures and programs Develop training plans and documentation in consultation with CST Collaborate with CST and Region II on workshops and follow-ups Provide consultative support to families to navigate behavior-related challenges C. Consultation Services Conduct student and classroom observations throughout the school environment Recommend effective behavioral strategies and interventions Create and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans Provide expertise for IEP development and program refinement Participate in CST, district, and I&RS team meetings Reports to the Director of Special Programs and Supervisors of Special Education Start Date: 08/26/26. End Date: 11/30/26. Plus 3 days of New Teacher Orientation in August. Working Conditions: Full-time, temporary position and medical benefits. Demonstrated experience in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans. Demonstrated experience consulting and collaborating with school staff on tiered interventions for students with behavior challenges. Appropriately credentialed to supervise Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT's), preferred.
