WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Mental Health Technician and Dietary Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for coordinating food services in accordance with health and dietary requirements and ensuring the well-being of clients.

  • Ensure client safety and ratios by maintaining an ongoing awareness of client whereabouts, responding to emergencies, and providing crisis intervention.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by being a positive role model for the development of socialization and other skills for all residents.
  • Responsible for planning meals for facility residents using menus and portion sizes created by the Registered Dietitian.
  • Maintain pantry inventory, including monitoring emergency and hurricane stock. Communicate with the Program Manager and Residential Director routinely to ensure tasks are completed within the facility's budget.
  • Assist with meals, including serving meals to ensure appropriate portion sizes, observing clients at meals and snack times, adhering to dietary orders, and completing the meal board.
  • Provide Health Department training and Kitchen training for staff and residents
  • Complete monthly treatment plan reviews for residents.
  • Observe and record medications taken by clients and assist the Licensed Practical Nurse in maintaining an organized medication cart.
  • Complete the shift report form at the end of every shift and provide a verbal report to oncoming staff to ensure continuity of care. Inform the Treatment Team of changes in client behaviors throughout the shift, utilizing on-call procedures.
  • Transport clients to scheduled program activities and appointments.
  • Perform housekeeping activities as directed: facility cleaning/sanitation, bed and linen care, and light housekeeping.
  • Participate in Emergency Preparedness Plan, including working off-site during an evacuation, by actively participating in the RTF Team A and Team B model during hurricane season. Additional compensation and support for employees who contribute during this process will be determined on a case-by-case basis, final post-storm performance evaluation, and the programs budget.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with co-occurring disorders is highly preferable.
  • Previous experience in a residential setting is highly preferable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Electronic Health Records platforms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail and organization skills are critical.
  • Potential exposure to a stressful environment involving difficult client situations, including clients who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive.
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens
  • Ability to lift and/or carry supplies, files, medication, etc., up to 25 lbs. when required
  • Will be required to obtain and maintain Food Manager Certification.
  • Must obtain/maintain CPR, First-Aid, and Medical Technician Certifications.
  • Use of personal vehicle to transport clients as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage
