This full-time position will involve collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.Job DetailsStarting date: 2026-2027 school yearAugust 17, 2026 starting day184 day contract15 accrued Sick Days/year (maximum 250 days)03 Personal DaysProfessional DevelopmentEducational ReimbursementCompetitive Health Insurance optionsBoard Paid Life InsuranceResponsibilities- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism, ensuring that goals are tailored to their unique needs.- Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters learning and social interaction among students.- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student learning and inclusion in the classroom.- Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills, using evidence-based practices and interventions.- Facilitate communication between students, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education and well-being.- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and social skills development.- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and interventions, and prepare reports as required.- Stay informed about best practices in special education and autism interventions, attending workshops and training as necessary.Requirements- Bachelors degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.- Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education, with a focus on autism spectrum disorders.- Experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities in an educational setting.- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of state and federal special education laws.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with special needs.- Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining student records and documentation.- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with research and best practices in special education.
