The MAT Therapist specializes in supporting clients undergoing Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) for opioid use disorder and other substance use challenges. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, integrated therapeutic care through individual and group counseling, assessment, and treatment planning. The MAT Therapist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, including medical professionals, to ensure comprehensive, compassionate care that enhances clients’ recovery and long-term well-being.

Essential Functions:

Therapeutic Counseling: Conduct individual and group counseling sessions tailored for clients in MAT, fostering trust and a supportive environment.

Assessment and Treatment Planning: Perform detailed intake assessments, evaluating clients’ history, needs, and suitability for MAT. Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans that align with MAT protocols.

Collaboration with Medical Staff: Partner with medical providers to monitor clients’ progress in MAT, facilitate communication, and coordinate care plans to align counseling with medical treatment.

Monitoring and Adjustments: Continuously assess client progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and ensuring documentation is completed accurately and within 24 hours of service.

Crisis Intervention: Respond to client crises effectively and provide immediate therapeutic support, including coordination of external resources as necessary.

Direct Care Services: Offer therapy that meets ethical standards within behavioral health and substance use treatment.

Discharge and Follow-Up: Manage discharge planning and aftercare, ensuring a smooth transition for clients to other support services as needed.

Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed clinical records, participate in chart reviews, and comply with all state and organizational guidelines.

Training and Outreach: Participate in community outreach, educational activities, and advocate for MAT and substance use recovery programs.

Team Engagement: Actively collaborate in case conferences, team meetings, and training sessions to ensure best practices in MAT are shared and upheld.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:

Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Current or eligible for licensure (LCSW/CSW, LMFT/LMFTA, LPCC/LPCA, or equivalent) in Kentucky.

Experience: Proven experience working with clients in MAT or related substance use recovery programs.

Skills: Knowledge of MAT protocols and evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

Strong ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with clients.

Collaborative approach with healthcare teams.

Proficiency in clinical documentation and record-keeping.

Preferred Knowledge: Understanding of co-occurring disorders and integrated treatment models.
