PSYCHIATRIC ADVANCED PRACTICE CLINICIAN (APC)

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) searching for a motivated and engaging Psychiatric Advanced Practice Clinician (PMHNP or Psychiatric PA) who is looking for a rewarding career and the opportunity to work with pediatric and adult patients.

This position is full time and a provider with dual diagnosis experience is preferred. WNCCHS is looking for someone to provide trauma-informed services with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to substance use and mental health disorders. This provider will work closely with the behavioral health department and primary care providers in this integrated care setting. Focus will be placed on assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, and modifying interventions as clinically appropriate with the support and guidance of a supervising physician.

Summary of Position

The Psych APC provides professional health services to complement the delivery of integrated team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed behavioral health care services at Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) through a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care. The role of the Psych APC is to assess, maintain and improve the mental health status of individuals in the communities served through timely access to evidence-based treatments. The Psych APC effectively collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

Minimum Qualifications

Proficient in Microsoft Office products and e-mail communication. Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with patients, providers, clinical staff, and leadership. Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills.

  • Experience: Previous medical office or FQHC experience preferred
  • Additional skills required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledgeable about current standards, methods, and procedures for the delivery of evidence-based care in an efficient, organized, and accurate manner. Collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management. Time management skills to be able to see a high number of patients. Interpersonal skills, compassion, and empathy to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues. Flexibility to work with a variety of people differing in ages, personalities, and backgrounds.
  • Additional skills preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian. Experience in public health.

Education: Graduation from an accredited master's degree program as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Nurse Practitioner with PMHNP certification, or Physician Assistant with Psychiatry Certificate of Qualification (CAQ)

Certification(s)/Licensure:

  • Current State of North Carolina NP/PA licensure/certification required.
  • Current DEA license required.
  • BLS and all applicable certifications required (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Must be Medicaid & Medicare eligible.
