The Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides direct care for patients in the psychiatric milieu by interacting with patients individually and in groups with a focus on assessment and monitoring of symptoms and behaviors, implementation of behavioral interventions, and enhancing coping strategies.
The MHS utilizes a variety of modalities for milieu therapy and milieu management to assist in providing an environment of intensive therapeutic programming for patients.
The MHS is also responsible for continuously monitoring for safety in the milieu, and assessing for safety risks associated with patient behaviors and then intervening in real time as needed to maintain the safety of the patients and the staff and reporting assessment data to the RN and/or other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- CPI Training within 90 days of hire
- Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, or another healthcare or mental health field.
- Minimum of one-year experience in a mental health care setting for children/adolescents strongly preferred, but not required.
- Additional experience providing direct health care services to children/ adolescents and/or adults
- CNA certification
