Nexus-Onarga Family Healing is located approximately 30 miles south of Kankakee and 45 miles north of Champaign-Urbana and just a few minutes from I-57 on a historic site in Onarga, IL. Nexus Onarga provides boys ages 10 to 20 years old a structured, homelike environment where they can safely address their unhealthy sexual behaviors and their emotional and behavioral issues.

Work Schedule & Salary:

  • Full Time salaried position working 40 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling! Days/Hours can be flexible and are designed to meet the needs of youth & families on your caseload.
  • Guaranteed Salary starting at $70,000-$74,000 annually based on licensure and years of therapy experience in the field.

Work Environment:

  • May be required to assist staff in proper restraining of clients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, twist, bend, and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within the residential program.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

The Therapist oversees youth treatment through assessment, planning, and discharge coordination. They provide trauma-informed clinical support, enhance programming, lead family therapy, and collaborate with community partners to support progress and transition planning.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with youth and family to lead and develop to the Nexus Individual and Family Guidance Plans.
  • Complete Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths functional assessment.
  • Through the collaborative effort with family, youth, and providers, develop and monitor the individual treatment plans.
  • Provide individualized, youth-focused, strength and evidenced-based family and individual therapy to youth and families.
  • Develop and facilitate milieu and treatment groups that are trauma informed, educational, and treatment focused.
  • Serve as a clinical treatment team leader by modeling and coaching staff on rapport building with clients, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation techniques on the treatment milieu.
  • Assess readiness for discharge in conjunction with the treatment team. Coordinate and recommend therapeutic services for success after discharge.
  • Coordinate/communicate aftercare needs of the client with family and all necessary social service and community providers to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Ensure all required client reports, records, and all documentation are produced accurately and maintained in a consistent, timely, and professional manner.
  • Participate in team meetings, clinical team meetings, therapy clinical supervision sessions, and in-service as required.

Requirements

Required Education and Licensure:

  • Master's degree in one of the behavioral sciences, human services, social work, marriage & family therapy, psychology, counseling, or clinically related fields
  • Must have or be willing to obtain an LSOTP license within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements

Preferred Credentials & Experience:

  • Clinical licensure (LCPC, LCSW, etc.) and/or Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider License (LSOTP)
  • Related residential or human services experience working with youth and families
