Overview:
As a Family-Based Mental Health Therapist with the Barber Behavioral Health service line of the Barber National Institute, you will work in homes, schools, and community settings throughout the Warren, PA area. In this role, you'll provide in-home therapy and support to children and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges using the Structural Family Therapy model, often in conjunction with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
You will partner with a co-therapist to deliver intensive, team-based treatment and play a key role in stabilizing families, reducing psychiatric hospitalizations, and improving family functioning. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about strengthening families and committed to community-based mental health care.
What You'll Bring:
A strong understanding of family systems and trauma-informed care
Ability to build trust and therapeutic rapport with children and families
Clinical skills in treatment planning, documentation, and intervention
Flexibility to adapt to family schedules and community-based work
Strong communication to work with co-therapists, supervisors, and providers
What You'll Have:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Masters in social work, counseling, psychology, special education, related field
Two years of experience in the CASSP
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Eligibility for the following clearances:
PA State Police Criminal Record Check
Child Abuse History Clearance
FBI Fingerprint Clearances (DHS & PDE)
Willingness to attend WPIC Family-Based training and meet graduation criteria
A Typical Day May Include:
Delivering in-home family therapy using the Structural Family Therapy model
Providing trauma-informed interventions tailored to each family's needs
Collaborating with your co-therapist and clinical supervisor on treatment
Completing timely documentation including progress notes, treatment plans,
Participating in regular team, individual, and group supervisions
Supporting families in crisis and coordinating with community resources
