The Child and Adolescent Therapist will provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy and case management services to individuals 6-25 years old and their families, through several programs within the Child & Adolescent Services Department. The Child and Adolescent Therapist will provide strengths-based, client-centered, and trauma-informed services to clients and their families with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

This position involves both clinic-based (located in Albany Park and Edgebrook neighborhoods of Chicago), community-based (Northside, Northwest Side, Evanston and Skokie), and remote work. This position is eligible for a condensed work schedule.

Trilogy, Inc. provides clinical supervision to Counselors, Social Workers, and Art Therapists at no additional cost to them. Trilogy, Inc. invests in clinicians to get advanced clinical training (e.g., EMDR, DBT, TF-CBT). Trilogy, Inc. provides the flexibility similar to an outpatient group therapy practice, with the structure of a community mental health agency. Our Child and Adolescent Therapists are paid for non-direct service activities (like attending meetings and trainings, completing clinical assessments and notes, consulting with other therapists and case collaterals) and have flexibility in choosing their schedule. Although there is an extensive waitlist, Trilogy, Inc. provides new clinicians with an additional stipend as they are building their caseload.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide strengths-based, client-centered, and trauma-informed clinical services to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
  • Provide outreach, engagement, and assessments to at-risk youth, youth in the juvenile justice system, and their families
  • Provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment services to children, adolescents, and their families
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with the input of the client and their team, which includes providers and natural supports. Collaborate with members of the client’s team to ensure quality of treatment and coordination of care
  • Refer youth and families to appropriate resources to meet presenting needs, including those related to entitlements, educational and occupational supports, resources, and legal rights. Ensure youth and families have been linked to referrals for long-term supports.
  • Educate and assist clients with applying for entitlements; i.e. Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and LINK
  • Accompany clients to important appointments in the community and provide support with issues related to housing, substance use, budgeting, social support, and medication.
  • Partner with and receive referrals from courts, schools, behavioral health care clinics, primary care clinics, and other community partners. Market Trilogy services and form relationships with external providers, applicants for service, and other relevant stakeholders in treatment
  • Maintain documentation and chart in compliance with Medicaid, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), and agency standards
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or transition age youth and their families
  • Experience working with people with mental health and/or substance abuse diagnoses
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License with daily access to a vehicle. Must have $100,000/$300,000 auto liability insurance.
  • Available to work in-person at least 3-days per week
  • Available to work evenings, based on client need
  • Spanish/English fluency preferred, but not required
