JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Behavior Interventionist, under the direction of the Elementary MTSS Specialist, assists teachers in providing support and resources to academically and behaviorally

challenged individuals or small groups of students; monitors, redirects and

modifies student progress regarding inappropriate behaviors and

performance; while providing interventions in reading and math so as to

improve student achievement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports Teachers and staff in implementing one-on-one interventions to students in a school setting; participates in intervention meetings through Professional Learning Communities.

  2. Facilitates alternative school placements as needed.

  3. Collects data and records anecdotal student progress notes; maintains academic and behavioral charting data.

4.Supports Teachers and staff in monitoring student learning in prescribed (reading and math) learning activities.

  1. Monitors, observes and reports academic and behavior of students according to approved procedures; reports progress regarding student performance and behavior.

  2. Serves as the liaison between the school and home as well as provide resources and community wrap-around services.

  3. Conducts parent training nights.

  4. Assists students and parents with academic (reading and math) and emotional support and community resources.

  5. Communicates with teachers regarding individual needs of students; provides

input regarding student progress.

  1. Provides student's teacher with weekly updates on group and individual

intervention. Confers with teacher, as needed, concerning programs and

materials to meet student needs.

  1. Utilizes district resources to construct grade level appropriate academic and

behavior interventions.

  1. Conducts classroom observations focused on student classroom academics and behaviors.

  2. Directs group activities of students as assigned.

  3. Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.

  4. Performs related tasks as required.

Length of Contract: 195 contract days.

EVALUATION:

Performance of The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Teaching and Learning in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies and state law.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor Degree required, Master Degree preferred.

Previous Experience: Five years teaching experience preferred.
